One could say this event was organised for the lulz by chance on a random day. Well actually yes. Most minor cosplay events in Singapore are done like that. But I shall save that topic for another day. For now, we’ll move on to the Black Rose @ Liang Court!

I spy with my little eyes, at least 5 of those you-know-what-tards.

This time round, the number of Naru/Bleachtards and the like wasn’t as bad. Variety is somewhat still there but somehow, not satisfying. What kept me entertained was the fashion show at the start of the programme since I had expected the not so unexpected. However, there were a few exceptions.

The models. I liked the 2nd and 3rd one from the left >:D

But first let’s look at the fashion show, sponsored by Atsuki(?) since it was what allured me and almost killed my borrowed D40 with the extensive flash used ^^;

Anyone mind telling me what particular term is used for their clothes or are they just known as dresses?…

It’ll help me in my English oral examinations…

And if you think guys have no fashion sense…

You may be correct…

…Guys really have no fashion sense.

And my God… These two are cute indeed :3

Next up, the highlight of the event – cosplay? Nah. I was still more interested with the fashion show and considering my failure to charge the camera’s battery the night before, it died halfway along with my motiviation. orz

The emcees. One on the left’s Akime, the organiser if I’m not mistaken.

A cute Taiga from Tora Dora. Not tsun enough though.

The vajras’ have eaten up Ranka cloned Sheryl, face it.

So, no more Ranka for you! Muahahahahaha…

The miniature Klan.

Yami from To Love-Ru.

Photos taken with a Nikon D40.

And usually I would decide a list of best cosplayers but Kuro Bara did not have any lasting impression on me so I would just blatantly say perhaps, none? Majority as I have seen just came here for “dressup” only, sadly.

Well, on a serious note, observing the cosplay scene for a span of 3 years, it has come to my mind that Singaporeans are rather dead in their right brain of creativity, ingenuity and whatever not. Reviving does not bring in new things, it only repeats. Be it good, or bad.

Nevertheless, each event has it’s ups and downs and I do hope organisers will come up with better themes to improve the cosplay situation in Singapore. Or am I just expecting too much? Please share your views on this.

P.S. Seems like I’ve side-tracked abit towards the end ^^;

  1. i have no creativity at all too :) maybe its a genes. >w<v
    WHAT DO U MEAN, NOT TSUN ENOUGH?!
    why dont u make a guide on how to be tsun, i’ll totally read it and try my best to do it (:

  2. i see some cute girlies in very short dresses. yum yum.

    regarding guys having no fashion sense. i so agree on this. in my current post about candid shots, i mentioned how most couples the girl dress better than the guy. seem it too many times. lol.

    lastly as for cosplaying in sg, the cosplayers deserve some credit. it not easy making the costume and acting the character. most audiences get bored if the same cosplayer come for every new event dressed in the same costume and expect something new each time. that’s tough!

    @ May,
    your getup is alright. maybe just work on frowning more though it can get tiring. lol. good luck for future events. sorry this trooper cannot meet it for this event. next one perhaps.

  3. Those two are cute indeed. I seem to recognize them…but wait.

    Who gives a shit?

    Also, events in Singapore are always fail. A good point made!

    Guys have no fashion sense.

  4. Seem like they cos-play promoters have never heard of the 8p rule:

    Piss Poor Prior Planning Produces Piss Poor Performance

  5. @May
    You just need more practice.

    @gordonator
    Good point. Guess I tend to look on the negative side of things.

    @Panther
    I found out the one on the left’s pinkturtle but I don’t think you’ll care anyway.

    @TheGeek
    In other words, failing to plan is planning to fail.

  6. Taiga and her moustache. Instant turn-off for me.

  7. Farnie~ Most of the cosplayers now looks so chubby eh?

  8. .x. That dressthing in the 4th pic(blue one if I’m not wrong? I’m on my phone nao, so lazy scroll up see…) is called a waloli. .w. It’s more or less in the same family as that thingy joy was wearig during EOY~

  9. You forgot to mention the Lancelot being hailed as a Gundam. /o\

  10. MOUSTACHE!! I SEE IT NOT!!
    why do you people make it so HARD. now i gotta get rid of fine facial hair too?!
    WHAT DO YOU MEAN, MORE PRACTICE?!
    GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  11. At least the cosplay event is more and is better than those in MY. In MY, cosplay event is rare and…maybe you guys should take a look at their cosplay..and you will find that SG is doing better and active. Haha.

    Anyway, i saw a few nice ones. How i wish i was there too sigh~ =)

    About the guy..i think that is more like a casual wear..nothing much extraordianry. For a guy to cosplay is very limited i think since..we need to have certain look and body in order to cosplay a good one…i think =x

    Overall…I WISH I WAS THERE!! RAWR! =D
